The 13R is thought to debut as a sub-flagship alternative to the full-fat OnePlus 13 Android smartphone. Now, it is thought to launch with all the hallmarks of its OEM's premium offerings. They are now tipped to include an on-trend OLED display, an Alert Slider - and the brand's biggest battery to date.

The 12R debuted with OnePlus' largest smartphone battery to date in early 2023. Now, its predecessor is allegedly poised to smash its record all over again - without even relying on pre-existing hardware to do so.

It will get the largest such upgrade currently in development at OnePlus, which, according to prodigious leaker Digital Chat Station, will be a dual-cell battery with 3,000mAh per cell - although it can apparently be marketed as having 6,200mAh based on typical capacity calculations.

It allegedly makes up a device with a 6.78-inch 1.5K 8T LTPO quad-curved display, triple rear cameras with a 50MP main sensor, 100W charging and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC - topped off with a signature OnePlus Alert Slider.

Accordingly, the putative device sounds like another version of the Ace 3 Pro - with 2 important differences.

One is that the former will have the bigger battery, even despite the latter's currently class-leading 6,100mAh breakthrough.

The other is that the newer, improved version has a better chance of global availability as the OnePlus 13R following its Chinese debut as the Ace 5. If so, it should accompany the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4-powered 13 during its probably early 2025 launch event.
