Vivo X200 Mini rumoured to launch as compact alternative to Galaxy S24, iPhone 15 and Xiaomi 14 with flagship specs
While smartphones have been getting larger in the last decade, they appear to have plateaued. By contrast, what does and what does not class as a compact smartphone continues to change. For example, it was not long ago that a circa 130 mm-tall smartphone like the iPhone 13 mini (curr. $365 on Amazon) was the benchmark for 'mini' smartphones.
However, the market has moved away from releasing compact smartphones in recent years, leaving the Galaxy S24, iPhone 15 and Xiaomi 14 as some of the smallest mass-market smartphones around. According to Digital Chat Station, Vivo could be plotting its own equivalent, which it may deliver alongside the larger X200 and X200 Pro. As such, the likes of Gizmochina and GSMChina have referred to this alleged device as the X200 'Mini', even if Digital Chat Station did not specifically name the device in question.
At any rate, the renowned leaker believes that Vivo is developing the so-called X200 Mini with a display that spans roughly 6.3-inches while maintaining a 1.5K resolution (1440p). Additionally, the device is said to combine a 5,500 mAh silicon carbon battery with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, as well as Vivo's in-house image-signal processor (ISP) and a 3x periscope telephoto camera. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when Vivo will unveil its first 'mini' smartphone, let alone whether it will be available outside China.
