Vivo X200 Ultra tipped to launch as dual periscope zoom flagship smartphone
The Vivo X200 Ultra is now projected to boast a potentially class-leading periscope zoom lens among Android smartphones, in that it will boast a 200MP "super telephoto" fixed-aperture module.
Then again, the X100 Ultra (now starting at €857 (~$924) via TradingShenzhen) also debuted with a rear camera of the same specs: a world-first in its case. However, its rumored successor is now tipped to augment it with a second periscope zoom of 50MP in resolution.
The 2 sophisticated lenses may have macro and low-light functions respectively, according to typically reliable leaker Digital Chat Station. They may be joined by 2 more 50MP shooters for a grand total of 4 rear cameras, as opposed to 3 in the X100 Ultra.
Accordingly, its X200-series counterpart might be better equipped to tackle its closest rival the OPPO Find X8 Ultra, whose forebear seemed to grab all the attention and accolades in 2024 with its dual periscope zoom lenses, even though both were 50MP in resolution.
The X200 Ultra will also apparently debut with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (or "SM8750") platform for next-gen top-end Android handsets, although little else is known about the device to date. However, it will probably have a design similar to that of the rest of the X200 series when it is unleashed in October 2024.
