Xiaomi 15 Ultra rumour tips 200 MP mid-range zoom lens with 4–5x magnification alongside periscope unit ^↺

The launch of the Xiaomi Ultra 15 is only expected early in 2025, yet rumours and supposed leaks are already sparking confusion about the upcoming flagship phone, with the latest leak causing confusion about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's camera specifications. 

According to a post on social media platform X by prolific leaker @UniverseIce, the Xiaomi Ultra 15 will feature a 200 MP telephoto camera with a “4.x X zoom,” indicating that the camera unit will have a magnification of somewhere between 4× and 5×. If the Xiaomi 14 Ultra (curr. $1,263.87 on Amazon) is anything to go by, this would mean a 35-mm equivalent of around 100 mm. 

A 200 MP zoom lens may have implications for the rest of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's camera sensor array, since the 14 Ultra had a 3.2× telephoto lens. It is conceivable that the 4.X× telephoto camera may end up replacing the 3.2× camera from the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, since this rumour makes no mention of a periscope zoom. Meanwhile, other leaks point to a 7× periscope zoom unit. 

Taking the information together, it's reasonable to assume the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will have both a fixed 200 MP zoom camera between 4–5× and a periscope lens in the 7× range. A setup like this would make sense given the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's competition, like the Sony Xperia 1 VI (curr. $1,045 on Amazon) has a 7.1× periscope zoom camera. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumoured to come with the same 5× periscope zoom unit as the S24 Ultra.
