Xiaomi is apparently working on several new batteries which, depending on the specific model, are said to have very high capacities and a correspondingly high charging capacities.

The battery life of smartphones, tablets and notebooks is a selling point, depending on the model. On the one hand, battery life depends on power consumption, which can be reduced by using energy-efficient computing chips and a display with an adaptive refresh rate, among other things. On the other hand, the battery capacity naturally determines the runtime, although this has its limits due to the limited energy density of the actual memory cells. In recent years, considerable progress has been made in fast charging, with charging capacities of 200 watts now achievable. A very high charging capacity can compensate for a lower battery capacity through fast intermediate charging, depending on the usage scenario.

According to unconfirmed information, Xiaomi is working on several new batteries. These are not intended to set new records in terms of charging performance, but will come with larger capacities. On Weibo, Digital Chat Station reports that Xiaomi is working on six new batteries with capacities of up to 7,500 mAh, whereby the batteries with a higher capacity each have a slightly lower charging capacity. The 7,500 mAh battery will be charged with 100 watts, the 7,000 mAh version with 120 watts. This pattern also applies to the 5,000 and 5,500 mAh and 6,000 and 6,500 mAh batteries. The battery with a capacity of 7,500 mAh is said to have a total charging time of 63 minutes.

However, it remains to be seen whether batteries with a capacity of more than 6,000 mAh in particular will actually fit into conventional smartphones.
