Xiaomi 15 Edition may come with partially transparent Google Pixel camera bar
Xiaomi is planning the Chinese launch of its Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro in October 2024, shortly after the now confirmed launch date of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. So far so good. But there may be a surprise in the form of another Xiaomi 15 model this year, and this does not mean the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which is still on schedule to be released in 2025. There already have been indications of a potential special edition in the past, when there was talk of a Xiaomi 15 Pro Ti Satellite, and later of a special design edition under the Xiaomi 15S Pro name.
It is still unclear whether all these rumors are related to the latest hint from Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, but it is possible that a partially transparent model of the Xiaomi 15 will be released this year. The leaker shows what this may look like, although this is obviously just a concept. Accordingly, XIaomi is apparently planning a camera module in the style of the Google Pixel series, which spans the entire width of the back, but is significantly higher than the Pixel 8 Pro.
Unlike Google, Xiaomi does not use the bar to divide the cameras horizontally, but instead allows a view of the internals on the right-hand side, such as the chipset. Whether the "Xiaomi 15 Transparent Explorer Edition" will actually look like this or actually come onto the market remains uncertain. The commentators on Weibo are currently not in agreement as to whether Xiaomi is doing itself any favors with this design, and not everyone likes the dual-cam design with the two cameras in the lower ring. Many would prefer a second display on the right-hand side in the style of the Mi 11 Ultra. What do you think of these potential plans?
