Qualcomm confirms Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 launch event date
Back in February at MWC, Qualcomm confirmed its plans to launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in October. The company has now finally provided more clarity on when exactly that will be, by revealing the the date for its Snapdragon Summit.
As outed by leaker Mochamad Farido Fanani, Qualcomm has quietly updated its website with a date for the 2024 Snapdragon Summit. The event is slated to be held from October 21 to October 23 in Maui, Hawaii. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 can be expected, nigh-indubitably, to launch at that event.
Details of the upcoming flagship chipset remain iffy, but word on the grapevine hints at substantial performance upgrades on both the CPU and GPU sides, relative to the current-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. If the latest leak is anything to go by, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4's prime core could be clocked at over 4 GHz, with an accompanying 30% jump in single-core performance versus the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's Cortex-X4.
In any case, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to be followed shortly by the release of the Xiaomi 15 series in China, with the successors to the Xiaomi 14 series (buy on Amazon) widely tipped to be the first devices to debut with the new flagship chipset.
