Qualcomm's mid-range Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 launches next month; Redmi, Realme, Vivo and Motorola likely to be first OEMs to feature chip
Qualcomm's upcoming mid-range processor, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, was recently spotted on Geekbench. The chip's performance was nearly identical to the standard Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 based on leaked benchmark scores. This new chip will likely offer a minor improvement over the previous generation Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, with a 15% bump in single-core and 12% increase in multi-core performance. Specifications included a tri-cluster CPU with a 2.5 GHz prime core, three 2.4 GHz performance cores, and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8 GHz.
A recent tweet from tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) listed the specs of the highly speculated chip, clearing up some confusion. It's indeed the same chip that showed up in the Geekbench test earlier, with the configuration in the post (1 x 2.5Ghz, 3 x 2.4Ghz, 4 x 1.8Ghz) matching the core distribution mentioned earlier. An Adreno 810 GPU is also specified in the post.
The tweet does reveal that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 will be launched next month, with the first device equipped with the chip not arriving until September. Furthermore, Redmi, Realme, Vivo and Motorola will be the first OEMs to feature the Gen 3 chip in their smartphones. The Redmi 14 Pro is already expected to feature the SoC in the near future, so that's something to watch out for.
