Qualcomm revealed to have created even more Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite chipsets totalling nearly a dozen SKUs
The first wave of Snapdragon X series devices have now started shipping with a choice of Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite chipsets. Officially, Qualcomm has announced a single Snapdragon X Plus variant, which it distributes as the X1P-64-100. By contrast, there are now four Snapdragon X Elite chips with the following specifications:
CPU cores | CPU cache | Max Multithread frequency | Dual core boost | GPU TFLOPS | NPU TOPS | Memory Type | Transfer rate | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
X1E-00-1DE | 12 | 42 MB | 3.8 GHz | 4.3 GHz | 4.6 TFLOPS | 45 TOPS | LPDDR5x | 8448 MT/s |
X1E-84-100 | 12 | 42 MB | 3.8 GHz | 4.2 GHz | 4.6 TFLOPS | 45 TOPS | LPDDR5x | 8448 MT/s |
X1E-80-100 | 12 | 42 MB | 3.4 GHz | 4.0 GHz | 3.8 TFLOPS | 45 TOPS | LPDDR5x | 8448 MT/s |
X1E-78-100 | 12 | 42 MB | 3.4 GHz | None | 3.8 TFLOPS | 45 TOPS | LPDDR5x | 8448 MT/s |
However, there have been rumblings of Qualcomm having created other Snapdragon X Plus variants, including the X1P-40-100 and X1P-42-100. Moreover, there have even been suggestions that Qualcomm has developed an 'SD1' variant with 80 CPU cores. Initial Adreno GPU driver files suggest that there could be another two Snapdragon X Plus chipsets though, along with a fifth Snapdragon X Elite option.
Specifically, the driver files show that Qualcomm has created the X1E-76-100, a lesser alternative to the X1E-78-100. Nonetheless, the X1E-76-100 has 12 CPU cores like the rest of the Snapdragon X Elite family. Consequently, we imagine that the X1E-76-100 has lower peak CPU speeds and or a restricted GPU.
Meanwhile, the drivers also confirm that the X1P-40-100 and X1P-42-100 have been in development. On top of that, there are references to the Snapdragon X1P-56-100 and X1P-62-100, all with 10 CPU cores. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when these variants will ship, if at all.
