Alleged Snapdragon X Elite benchmark shows slower single-core performance than iPhone 12 mini from 2020 ↺
Laptops with Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors are currently available for preorder, and they are expected to hit the shelves starting from June 18 in the US. But days before they were officially available for purchase, some of these laptops appeared in the wild, and we are now getting early reviews from users.
One such review is from a Reddit user, r/caponica23, who has shared benchmark results of the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge. Disappointingly, the laptop with Snapdragon X Elite has failed to beat the iPhone 12 mini from 2020 in the single-core test. On Geekbench, the user shows that the system scored 1829 in single-core and 11379 in multi-core while being on battery.
While it would be safe to expect a better performance when plugged in, there was barely any improvement. When connected to the wall, the Galaxy Book4 Edge with X Elite scored 1841 in single-core and 11537 in multi-core. To compare, the iPhone 12 mini from 2020 scores 2141 in single-core. According to Qualcomm's own test, the processor should score 2977 in single-core and 15086 in multi-core.
But it's important to note that Qualcomm's review embargo for the Snapdragon X series laptops hasn't been lifted yet. Also, according to the benchmark results shared by the Reddit user, the processor didn't go beyond 2.52 GHz, while Qualcomm has advertised that the processor can boost up to 4.0 GHz.
Seeing the performance, users on X are blaming Samsung for limiting the Snapdragon X Elite on the Book4 Edge. The thread alleges that the CPU is clocked down for better battery life and cooling. However, other results on Geekbench show similar results. It is possible that the laptops aren't running on the right firmware, and we will see a boost in performance once they are updated. But to confirm all this, we will need to wait till Qualcomm lifts the review embargo.

X Elite benchmark results are out, and the performance is disappointing. I knew they would limit the clock speeds for battery life, but it’s way too low.= Even with that, reviewer said the battery life is still shorter than the M2 MacBook Air. Qualcomm is big liar pic.twitter.com/N8KwHNbF0U
