Realme 13 Pro series makes debut with Ultra Clear AI-powered cameras and brighter, flatter displays
Realme has already made some big (and occasionally AI-related) claims for its new number-series flagships - however, it has saved some of the most stunning for the actual 13 Pro launch event, claiming that they can, among other things, take better portraits than a DSLR and achieve "far better clarity" than a handset with a 200MP sensor.
Then again, as it turns out, the full gamut of these potential bragging rights are exclusive to the top-end 13 Pro+, as it is the only one with the long-hyped "dual Sony camera" upgrade, whereas the Pro only gets 1 50MP rear camera: the OIS-enhanced LYT-600.
On the other hand, the 13 Pro and Pro+ have the same specs otherwise. They are now both Snapdragon 7s Gen 2-powered devices: a potentially significant upgrade for the former and a complete lack of change for the latter.
Then again, the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i-covered 6.7-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display driven by the chipset in both cases is finally quad-curved rather than saddled with the traditional waterfall-sided panel, and has a new max brightness of 2,000 nits to boot.
Both 13 Pro-series handsets also have the 80W SuperVOOC upgrade for a generationally enlarged 5,200mAh battery, yet are as little as 8.2mm in thickness and 185 grams in mass, depending on the rear panel type chosen.
On that note, the 13 Pro and Pro+ have been unleashed in "SGS 5-star" drop-resistant Emerald Green vegan leather or Monet Gold glass, with a Monet Purple alternative exclusive to the Pro variant.
The 13 Pro has an introductory starting price of just INR 23,999 (~$287, pending bank discount eligibility) where the Pro+ is INR 29,999 (~$358), although the former has an 8GB RAM/128GB internal storage base model as opposed to an 8/256GB configuration for the latter.
Both new Realme UI 5 (based on Android 14) handsets have 12/512GB top-end options, however, priced at INR 28,999 to 33,999 (~$346-406) during their early bird sale, which lasts until 22:00 today (July 30, 2024) on realme.com.
Accordingly, the new 13-series flagships have yet to join their 12 Pro counterparts on Amazon.
