Realme mid-range Android smartphone with rear camera and processor upgrades seemingly incoming
Realme introduced the new Sony LYT-600 image sensor when its 12 series of mid-range Android smartphones were made official. Now, it seems poised to add even more 50MP rear cameras to their upcoming successors.
Their flagship variant, the 12 Pro+ currently available on Amazon.in, now allegedly has a next-gen counterpart waiting in the wings in the form of a device with a heretofore-unknown Realme model number and comparatively faster charging.
The noted leaker Digital Chat Station claims that an equally mysterious smartphone with the same new 5,050mAh battery (a less prepossessing upgrade over the 12 series in that case) as in its new FCC listing has a 3X periscope zoom - just like the 12 Pro+.
However, this one might be the superior option, as it allegedly replaces the increasingly outmoded 64MP module of the 12 Pro+ with the Sony IMX882: a sensor also thought to feature in putative higher-end devices such as the OnePlus 13 and Realme's own GT7 Pro.
Accordingly, the 13 Pro+ could be touted as a smartphone with a flagship-grade telephoto lens on its launch. Then again, it is also now said to debut with the more humble Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 for an SoC.
