Premium Android smartphone slated to launch with 3D-textured Lunar Exploration Edition
Some Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagship Android smartphones have now been around for so long that their brands have now produced their iteratively updated counterparts; meanwhile, Realme had only just gotten around to teasing its own inaugural horse in this race.
The OEM is currently hyping its as the inaugural Sky Communication System device, tipped by noted leaker Digital Chat Station to leverage updated "horizontal dual gaming" and "360° surround" antennas to leverage Wi-Fi 7 and 5.5G connections for potentially improved coverage.
Realme itself describes it as its new "super antenna" technology thus far, and asserts that it can keep a smartphone's data on even while traversing the Shenzhen-Zhongshan channel tunnel, a 39-kilometer (km, or ~24-mile) roadway sunk 6.845km (4.253 miles) under the sea.
It also seems the upcoming flagship will have looks to make even the GT 6T just released to Amazon.in look outdated. Its dual (albeit still 50MP, according to Digital Chat Station)-lensed camera hump is encased in a new glass window with diamond-cut edges.
The device also rocks a refined ring flash and an on-trend flattened (or micro-quad-curved) display. Realme also hints at an "upgrade" to a metallic mid-frame. Digital Chat Station purports to elaborate on those official leaks by claiming that it will be thinner than the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro at 8.4mm in depth - although its 100W SuperVOOC battery will have the smaller typical capacity at 5,800mAh.
Finally, Realme has now confirmed that the device will have a special edition in black, but finished with a lunar crater texture using an Ace 3 Pro-like advanced etching process. Different parts of the resulting pattern will show up as light hits it at different angles, apparently.
It will allegedly also be available in traditional Realme purple and Light Year White.
In a confusing twist, the smartphone is slated to launch as the GT6: essentially the same product name as Realme's current Snapdragon 8s Gen 3-powered 'AI flagship' for the international market.
Accordingly, it seems this device will be exclusive to the Chinese market on its July 9, 2024 launch - unless it debuts as the GT 6 Pro globally thereafter, of course.
