OnePlus' imminent Android flagship refresh tipped to debut more premium and more durable than predecessor
OnePlus has announced in advance that the Ace 3 Pro will be the latest in its line of smartphones that don't require you to scramble for a towel when you get a call while washing your hands.
Meanwhile, legendary tipster Digital Chat Station has augmented the ongoing deluge of official pre-launch leaks by asserting that 3 Pro users can go around testing their new Rain Touch 2.0 feature with impunity thanks to the device's IP65 rating.
That's even more water resistance compared to the IP64-rated 12R, which is backed to withstand splashes whereas the 3 Pro is now slated to be impervious to "jets". Furthermore, the Ace 2 Pro had no IP ratings at all.
On that note, the leaker also suggests that the Ace 3 Pro and 12R will have the same 6.78-inch 1.5K display. The OEM has confirmed part of that theory, revealing that 3 Pro users might expect to get even more than they might think out of their new 6,100mAh battery thanks to 8T LTPO technology courtesy of BOE.
Finally, OnePlus has now also confirmed another Digital Chat Station tip in revealing that the Ace 3 Pro will have a frame made of metal (again, like the 12R), while the Ace 2 Pro makes do with plastic (not to mention off-brand Asahi Glass, while its successor is already known to upgrade to Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2).
All in all, the Ace 3 Pro seems a device poised to address all the not-so-premium drawbacks of its predecessor. Then again, the 2 Pro now seems to be the last smartphone to rock cutting-edge 150W SuperVOOC wired charging tech, with the 10T being the newest source of that feature available on sites like Amazon.
