OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite: European model debuts with smaller rated capacity than Indian version
The Nord CE 3 Lite's successor is now officially here as a smartphone with the CE4's new camera hump, albeit with a traditional dual-tone flash in place of the more modern LED ring. It upholds the OEM's proud tradition of awkward launches on a number of levels.
With its 6.67-inch Aqua Touch-enabled, "Absurdly Bright" (with 900-nit HBM and 2,100-nit peak modes) FHD AMOLED display, the CE4 Lite is effectively a rebrand of the Snapdragon 695-powered OPPO K12x - with an unexpected twist for European customers.
The CE4 Lite for their market has been unleashed with a battery of 5,110mAh in typical capacity, as opposed to the 5,500mAh spec unveiled to its Indian audience as one might predict. (The difference can't be explained by rated capacity values, as OPPO notes that the K12x has one of 5,375mAh.)
Despite this discrepancy (rendered all the more puzzling as OnePlus has no problems marketing the 12R as a 5,500mAh device in Europe), the CE4 Lite has "50-minute" 80W wired charging regardless of region, not to mention the new Sony LYTIA LYT-600 50MP OIS sensor as a main rear camera.
The combination of an audio jack and expandable storage (that is, unfortunately, becoming all the more "Absurdly" rare in the smartphone market) also make a comeback in this new, OxygenOS 14-powered Nord.
It is available to pre-order in Mega Blue or Mystic Silver with 8GB of RAM for €279 (~$300, or €50 (~$54) off its recommended price), with an introductory price of INR 19,999 (albeit starting with 128GB of internal storage rather than 256GB as in Europe) and an additional Ultra Orange SKU for India from June 27, 2024.
