10,000 units of new flagship Android smartphone sell in under ten minutes with sub-$600 price for 16GB RAM SKU
Realme now has 2 versions of the GT6: the efficiency- and AI-focused version sold globally and the one freshly debuted in China as the brand's most premium Android device of 2024 (thus far). The device has the same super-hyped S1+ display with a record-breaking 6,000 nits of (peak) brightness as the GT 6T for the international market - however, it is driven by the higher-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in its new flagship counterpart.
The GT6 also equals the 6T with 120W SuperVOOC charging - however, the newer device has the larger battery at a typical capacity of 5,800mAh, with many of the same up-to-date silicon-carbon accolades as the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro.
On that note, the GT6 is finished in glass regardless of colorway, albeit with a highly distinctive and apparently realistic Lunar Surface effect in one of them. Realme also touts its new flagship as particularly robust with "aerospace-grade" aluminum for its mid-frame, although it has an IP65 rating as opposed to IP68 in some other premium Android smartphones.
The updated GT6 camera hump houses the ex-flagship IMX890 sensor with OIS - not to mention plenty of AI to enhance its photography. It also has NFC, a "smart" IR blaster and X-axis haptics to go with its new Sky Communication System and dual-band GPS.
Realme opened pre-orders for the GT6 immediately following its launch of today (July 9, 2024), and claims to have accrued over 10,000 of them in just 8 minutes. That might have something to do with the device's starting price of 2,799 yuan (~$385) for a 12GB RAM/256GB internal storage base model, rising to 3,899 yuan (~$536) for a top-end 16GB/1TB SKU.
