Realme has now launched the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro Plus, its latest mid-range smartphones. While the company hopes to distinguish the pair from their peers with their 'luxury watch design', they also deliver modern Qualcomm processors, 120 Hz displays and powerful camera set-ups.

Realme has finally launched the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro Plus, with the latter referred to as the Realme 12 Pro+ in the company's marketing materials. In short, the pair feature similar overarching hardware, including a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 1080p, 120 Hz and 950 nits peak brightness.

Likewise, both smartphones rely upon 5,000 mAh batteries that support 67 W wired charging but miss out on wireless charging. Moreover, the pair measure 161.5 x 74 x 8.8 mm and are IP65 certified. However, Realme distinguishes the Realme 12 Pro Plus from the Realme 12 Pro in four areas, which contribute to the former weighing 6 g more than the latter at 196 g.

On the one hand, the Realme 12 Pro Plus features technically superior cameras, such as a 64 MP and 3x optical telephoto camera (OmniVision OV64B) instead of the 32 MP and 2x optical equivalent (Sony IMX709) in the Realme 12 Pro. Additionally, the Realme 12 Pro Plus has a 32 MP front-facing camera compared to a 16 MP sensor in the Realme 12 Pro Plus, although both devices share an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera that delivers a 112˚ field of view (FoV). Furthermore, Realme equips the Pro Plus with the Sony IMX890 as its primary camera, a 50 MP sensor that is larger than the Sony IMX882 in the Pro.

On the other hand, the Realme 12 Pro comes with a weaker chipset than its Pro Plus sibling. Specifically, Realme has used the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in the former and the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 in the latter. Ultimately, the two chipsets share various features, including an Adreno 710 GPU. Qualcomm pushes the four ARM Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 CPU cores harder in the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 than in the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 though, which should yield slightly better performance for the former overall. Unsurprisingly, the Realme 12 Pro Plus is more expensive than the Realme 12 Pro, with Realme only confirming Indian pricing so far:

  • Realme 12 Pro

    • 8 GB RAM/128 GB storage - INR 25,999 (~$313)
    • 8 GB RAM/256 GB storage - INR 26,999 (~$325)

  • Realme 12 Pro Plus

    • 8 GB RAM/128 GB storage - INR 29,999 (~$361)
    • 8 GB RAM/256 GB storage - INR 31,999 (~$385)
    • 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage - INR 33,999 (~$409)
