The Ace 2V emerged as a OnePlus smartphone with a slightly wild hotch-potch of specs to hit the price-point below that of its vanilla flagship sibling, such as the Dimensity 9000 SoC to drive a 1.5K/120Hz OLED display, but with non-Corning Asahi Glass for protection.
Now, its successor is believed to approach the sub-premium tier of the market in another way, with a display of basically the same specs, but perhaps with the new LTPO 4.0 technology and even Gorilla Glass Victus 2 of the 12R (or Ace 3 for the Chinese market) - albeit powered not even by an ex-MediaTek flagship chipset this time, but by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 from Qualcomm instead.
Then again, initial rumors of its existence seem composed of not much more than supposition based on the fact that its alleged predecessor was released in the first quarter of 2023 with the same display as the 11R, which is in itself a rebrand of the Ace 2.
The new "3V" leak continues in this vein by asserting that it will have the same 5,500mAh/100W wired charging battery as the current Ace-series flagship. On the other hand, it is also said to have a frame made of plastic rather than aluminum.
Accordingly, should the smartphone resurface as a Nord 3 replacement for the global market later in 2024, it might do so with the same apparently lower-end chipset.
Then again, Qualcomm has taken steps to boost performance in this tier over the last few generations, thereby possibly ensuring that this "Nord 4" (or "Nord 5") might still be able to boast of providing all a user's most vital needs on a budget.
