OnePlus Ace 3 launches with 8 Gen 2, large battery, fast charging, and more
The OnePlus Ace 3 has finally made its official debut in China. As the past teasers from the company have pointed out, it’s a direct successor of last year’s Ace 2 that brings many upgrades. Among them is the SoC, which has been upgraded from Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 to 8 Gen 2.
OnePlus has paired this last-gen flagship chipset with up to 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage and up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. According to the company, the Ace 3 achieves 1,743,901 points in AnTuTu, which is the highest benchmark score for a phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
To keep the performance stable, the Ace 3 utilizes a large-sized vapor cooling chamber. Its area is 9140 mm square, which OnePlus says can offer four times better thermal conductivity than a regular vapor cooling setup.
As for the camera configuration, the back of the OnePlus Ace 3 has three cameras, with the primary sensor being the 50 MP Sony IMX890. It’s accompanied by an 8 MP ultrawide and a 2 MP macro sensor. On the front, the Android smartphone features a 16 MP selfie camera.
Speaking of the front, the OnePlus Ace 3 sports a 6.7-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED screen. It’s a BOE 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate panel that can deliver 4500 NITS of peak brightness and reach 1600 NITS in Auto mode. For protection, the phone features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Battery-wise, the OnePlus Ace 3 sports the latest battery the company has ever put in its phones. The capacity is at 5500 mAh, which is 2% higher than the OnePlus 12. It can charge at 100W through SuperVOOC fast charging. The company says that it can go from 0% to 100% in 27 minutes.
Regarding the outlook, the OnePlus Ace 3 sticks with the same design language as the OnePlus 11 (curr. $795 on Amazon). It’s available in rose gold, blue, and black colorways. The phone is expected to debut as the OnePlus 12R in the international markets on January 23 alongside the OnePlus 12.
