The Redmi Note 13 series is a relatively new affair globally, with the Redmi Note 13 4G, Redmi Note 13 5G, Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G, Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G arriving simultaneously less than two weeks ago. However, Xiaomi unveiled Redmi Note 13 models in India at the start of the month, with a China-only release occurring last autumn.
Now, Xiaomi has expanded the series with a special edition model designed to mark Chinese New Year, which occurs on February 10 this year. Seemingly, China will retain exclusivity of the 'New Year Edition', despite the potential popularity of a Chinese New Year special model in other markets. In a similar vein, Xiaomi has only extended the New Year Edition to the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G and not the range-topping Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G.
Hardware-wise, the Redmi Note 13 Pro New Year Edition remains unchanged from its regular counterpart. Thus, the New Year Edition utilises a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, as well as a 200 MP primary camera, a 5,100 mAh battery and a large OLED display that outputs at 1220p and 120 Hz. Xiaomi has given the special edition model a few visual flourishes though, such as a red back panel and a black frame, which roughly translates from Chinese as 'Good Luck Red'. The New Year Edition starts at CNY 1,599 (~$223) with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage but is also available in four other memory configurations up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
