Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Indian launch preview reveals well-spec'd audio at competitive price

Redmi has unveiled the Buds 5 as its new "#SuperBuds" for the Indian market. They have come to disrupt the ~$60 or less tier of the audio peripherals market with potentially attractive specs and possibly appreciable audio quality.

That would be delivered through relatively large 12.4mm "dynamic" drivers with diaphragms plated in "polymeric" titanium. They can be set to enhance either bass, treble or vocal ranges, or be used in their 4th "standard" EQ mode.

The Buds 5 have (hybrid) ANC too, of course, albeit at a 46 decibel (dB) level rather than the current "industry strongest" 50dB spec of Realme's Buds Air 5 series. Then again, their new Redmi rivals also boast IP54 splash-proofing and up to 38 hours of battery life (with ANC off) thanks to a "lightweight and compact" OnePlus Buds 3-esque charging case.

The Redmi Buds 5 are now valued at INR 4,999 (~$60), but will be released for INR 2,999 (~$36) on February 20, 2024. They are listed in Fusion Black, White or Purple by Redmi, or, alternatively, by Amazon (but in Fusion Purple only) in advance.
