Xiaomi Buds 5 presented as lossless ANC wireless earbuds for under $100
Xiaomi has introduced a new take on the standard wireless earphone design with a slight, "exquisite" curve to the stem in the Buds 5, with the apparent aim of making them more ear-friendly over long listening sessions. To this end, they are also designed to be just 4.2 grams each in mass.
They can be kept in a pebble-shaped IP54-rated case rated to stretch their battery life out to as much as 39 hours per charge. The Buds 5 are equipped with 11-millimeter (mm) drivers for "Hi-Fi" audio, augmented with Harman AudioEFX tuning.
Then again, no codec support is mentioned - besides the aptX Lossless selling point, of course. In addition, Xiaomi also claims the Buds 5 support a "comfortable" level of ANC, yet the exact extent of that noise reduction is not given.
That might be why the Xiaomi Buds 5 have been announced at a price of just 699 yuan (~$96), in colors that match those of the new K70 Extreme Edition as well as a two-toned silver to their Chinese audience.
