Edifier Stax Spirit S5 Hi-Fi headphones combine planar-magnetic drivers with aptX Lossless and 80h runtime
With the Stax Spirit S5, Edifier offers a new alternative to high-end Bluetooth headphones such as the Apple AirPods Max (approx. 460 euros on Amazon), which differs from most competitors in one feature in particular: the planar-magnetic drivers. These are designed to provide sound at the level of electrostatic headphones.
Edifier advertises particularly neutral sound in the frequency range from 10 Hz to 40 kHz. Thanks to a newly developed "Production Phase Auto Calibration" process during the manufacture of the headphones, all Stax Spirit S5 headphones should reproduce the same sound. For the best possible sound, Edifier relies on a Qualcomm QCC5181 Bluetooth 5.4 chip, which supports Sony LDAC, LHDC, aptX HD, and aptX Lossless, so that music can be transmitted in CD quality without loss.
Google Fast Pair allows the headphones to be paired with Android smartphones in just a few seconds. Alternatively, they can also be operated via a 3.5 mm AUX cable or USB-C. The sound can be adjusted using an equalizer via the Edifier ConneX app. A gaming mode is designed to reduce latency to 89 milliseconds. Lamb leather ear pads, a battery life of 80 hours, Bluetooth Multipoint, and support for Qualcomm aptX Voice for better call quality round off the features.
