Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo: New open-ear headphones with large drivers for the global market
Xiaomi launches new open-ear headphones globally. The manufacturer has listed the Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo on its global website https://www.mi.com/global/product/xiaomi-openwear-stereo/. This means they will also be released outside of China, where they were introduced a few weeks ago. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has also confirmed the global launch via X (formerly Twitter).
It is not yet known when the new Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo will be available in Europe. It is also unclear how much they will cost in this country. The specifications and features of the new competitors from Shokz OpenFit (166 euros on Amazon), Bose Ultra Open Ear (starting from 257 euros on Amazon - refurbished), and the like are already known.
Open-ear headphones do not sit in the ear canal and, therefore, allow normal perception of the surroundings. Compared to bone-conduction headphones, however, they generally provide a better sound. Xiaomi uses 17 x 12 mm dynamic drivers with optimized bass performance and support for Hi-Res Audio Wireless and LHDC with up to 96 kHz as well as the Bluetooth codecs SBC and AAC in the OpenWear Stereo.
In addition to an additional 10-mm drivers to reduce sound loss and ensure privacy, Xiaomi also installs dual microphones with AI noise reduction for clear calls. The integrated battery is said to provide up to 7.5 hours of playback time, which can be extended to 38.5 hours with the charging case.
Weighing 9.6 g and available in beige and gray, the Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo are held to the ear with their ergonomically designed headband, for which the manufacturer promises a comfortable fit for all-day wearing comfort.
