Bose has now announced the Ultra Open Earbuds, a pair of earbuds that were previously known as the Open Ear Clips TWS. To recap, MySmartPrice revealed the earbuds as the latter earlier this month. However, the likes of Roland Quandt doubted that 'Open Ear Clips TWS' was Bose's final name.
Instead, Bose has effectively placed its new earbuds on the same pedestal as the most expensive QuietComfort earbuds with its 'Ultra' branding. Befitting the Ultra Open Earbuds' unusual design, Bose has decided to unveil the earbuds in collaboration with Kith, an American fashion and lifestyle brand that is a little over a decade old. As such, Kith's product announcement focuses more on the earbuds' design than its hardware, which it describes as follows:
The Kith for Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are designed for complete openness to your surroundings, while simultaneously providing rich, private sound with Bose's signature OpenAudio™ technology. Each earbud features an ear cuff silhouette—in a sleek black matte hue—that showcases a uniquely altered Kith logo in Bose's iconic block lettering. The Ultra Open Earbuds have a light-as-air grip with a flexible joint for easy on and off, making for effortless all-day wear. Notable features include advanced Bluetooth®, 7.5 hours of playtime, Bose Immersive Audio for music spatialization, and an additional suite of state-of-the-art technologies. Included is a co-branded charging case.
Presumably, Bose plans to sell the Ultra Open Earbuds itself, given the sunk costs associated with developing an entirely new product. For now, the Kith for Bose Ultra Open Earbuds will be sold as a limited edition model exclusively in the US. While Kith has not confirmed how many units it will sell yet, each will be priced at $299 and will be available on January 22 at 16:00 from Kith's website and physical stores.
