VIOFO VS1 launches as super-minimalist 2K Sony STARVIS 2-powered dash-cam
Some recent VIOFO dash-cams integrate their own screen - however, some drivers might perceive the feature as more of a distraction or a hindrance rather than an advantage. These potential customers need fear (or be aggravated) no longer, as the OEM also has Sony STARVIS 2 tech for them in the form of the new VS1.
Like some of its recent predecessors, it is rated to get a resolution of up to 2K/1440p out of its "clearer and more detailed" sensor (based on the IMX675 but with "unique processing technology" to broaden its dynamic range and get more out of every lighting condition), yet has a new design touted to render it VIOFO's most unobtrusive, yet versatile and flexible, dash-cam yet.
Its adhesive mount has a generous degree of rotation around the top of the main clip-mic-like body for easy placement and angle adjustment. Nevertheless, the VS1 is still rated for many top VIOFO features, GPS Recording & Tracking and Night Vision 2 with potentially enhanced license plate capture included.
The new compact dash-cam also supports Low Bitrate Recording for always-on modes such as smart 24/7 Monitoring while parked, as well as 5GHz Wi-Fi for potentially rapid wireless downloads. Needless to say, the dash-cam also emphasizes control via voice, and can also vocally issue its own notifications and status updates.
The VS1 is currently available via viofo.com for $119.99 with a free "High Endurance" microSD card - albeit one of only 32GB in size - and should join its A119 Mini 2 sibling on Amazon soon thereafter.
