Xiaomi Sound Pro launches with Harman AudioEFX-tuned speakers, advanced smart features and LED lighting
Xiaomi devoted most of its latest major product event to its new premium Android smartphones, enthusing at length about the new display, cameras and performance of the 13 Pro in particular. However, there was still time for a new range of ecosystem accessories with which a prospective buyer might surround themselves, the new Sound Pro included.
The smart speaker looks a lot like its vanilla forebear from the top down, although it is considerably taller thank to its new additional LED lamp function. It can be either set to match a given playlist's beat, assume an ambient function or even "follow" the user around the room thanks to a new sensor array.
Xiaomi still asserts that it can also handle flagship-grade audio thanks to its new collection of drivers. It is divided between a new subwoofer, a passive radiator and a main speaker, the latter 2 of which are made up of 3 "units" each, for results such as up to 40W of "shocking" bass.
Therefore, as the Sound Pro is still a cylindrical smart home device, the resulting audio is omnidirectional as well as potentially enhanced with Harman AudioEFX branding. The Sound Pro is also compatible with MIUI 14 and its latest connected-device management features, and also supports third-party alternatives - Apple AirPlay 2 included.
The Sound Pro is now available in China, starting at 999 yuan (~US$144).
