The Displace TV is the work of Displace, a startup that wants to revolutionise home Smart TVs. Supposedly, the company has created a TV that works without a power cable or remote control. The Displace TV can attach itself to a wall without the need for a wall bracket, too.

Displace, a startup, has announced what promises to be an unusual OLED Smart TV. Reputedly, the Displace TV dispenses with a power cable. Instead, Displace installs four proprietary batteries that should last up to 180 hours between charges. In other words, Displace claims that the batteries will last for a month when using its TV for 6 hours per day. Assuming the Displace TV offers the same power efficiency as other OLED Smart TVs, it would need to pack approximately 15 kWh worth of batteries.

The Displace TV is also said to contain a 55-inch and 4K OLED panel. However, the company insists that the TV weighs around 9 kg, an unlikely figure considering the weight of contemporary OLED Smart TVs. Allegedly, the Displace TV can affix itself to a wall with 'active-loop vacuum technology', eschewing the need for wall mounting, and can be grouped in fours to create a 110-inch display. The Displace TV relies on gesture, voice and touch controls too, rather than a typical remote control.

According to the company's press release, the Displace TV will debut on January 3 at CES 2023, although it remains to be seen whether the device will ever make it to market. In short, the Displace TV sounds rather than fantastical for the time being, at least until retail units reach consumers and independent reviewers.
