Xiaomi Redmi Buds 6 Active with large drivers launch globally

With the Redmi Buds 6 Active, Xiaomi offers rather simple, completely wireless headphones. These are already available in Asia and can already be ordered by customers via direct import. The global release has now been announced and the headphones have been listed on the global Xiaomi website. They are not yet directly available for the customers, but the listing is a sign that a global release is imminent.

The headphones are already available from Geekbuying for around 25 euros and have rather basic features. The lack of active noise suppression is likely to be a major limitation, meaning that disturbing ambient noise is only reduced passively. As the headphones are not inserted directly into the ear canal, the effect is likely to be quite weak.

A single 14.2-millimeter driver is installed, which promises powerful sound reproduction. Two microphones are installed in each headphone, allowing you to separate wind noise from your speech during conversations or recordings. The total runtime with intermediate charges is specified as up to 30 hours, the lid of the charging case is transparent and the headphones themselves should last up to 6 hours.

Five equalizer settings are available ex-works, the connection to a device is made via Bluetooth 5.4; the latency stated is at 90 milliseconds. Google Fast Pair is supported, and a corresponding app is used to adjust not only the audio effects, but also the headphone controls.
