Xiaomi Watch S4 Sport debuts with eSIM support, new titanium crown and diving mode
Xiaomi has just confirmed that the Watch with a 568mAh battery and eSIM support spotted in leaks previous to the major product event of July 19, 2024 is the S4 Sport.
The new wearable's version of HyperOS is augmented with algorithms exclusively developed by Suunto with the intention of supporting and coaching "pro athlete" levels of training in 6 different sports. The S4 Sport is also rated to support the same NFC and digital car-key support as the new Band 9.
Xiaomi claims that the S4 Sport is also capable of "lactate threshold testing" in order to assess the wearer's peak aerobic fitness and endurance levels. The smartwatch is also touted to help keep the user safe with features such as bad weather alerts, dual-frequency "5-star" GPS, offline maps and a 2,200-nit peak brightness for its AMOLED screen.
The S4 Sport is also the first of its line to launch with internationally-recognized, EN13319-certified compatibility with diving to depths of up to 40 meters. It compounds its Apple Watch Ultra (and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra) rivalry with an orange accent for its physical crown.
That part of the Xiaomi Watch S4 Sport is finished in titanium, as is its case and the Milanese strap shipped with its new 2,599 yuan (~$356) top-end SKU. However, it is also available with fluoroelastomer or (very orange) silicone bands for 1,999 yuan (~275).
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra starts at $649 on Amazon today.
