Garmin Forerunner 955 receives Garmin Share and device settings backup & restore functionality with new update
The Forerunner 955 (curr. $449 on Amazon) has not received any updates in a while. On the one hand, Garmin last released a new beta update almost three months ago. On the other hand, a stable update landed at the end of the same month as Software Version 19.18.
Now, Garmin has shared details of a new update, which has arrived as Public Beta Version 20.15. As always, it is issuing out the new update through a 'phased rollout'. For disclosure, it claims that the update has not reached any Forerunner 955 smartwatches, at the time of publication. However, it should be possible to start downloading Public Beta Version 20.15 manually by navigating through the following on-device menus, provided you have enrolled your Forerunner 955 on Garmin's Beta Program:
Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates
Currently, no one has reported any issues occurring when running Public Beta Version 20.15. With that being said, the lack of discussion about the update could be because Garmin has not actually started distributing over-the-air (OTA) files yet.
