The tinyPod is a $79 iPod case for the Apple Watch, complete with a tactile scroll wheel
The tinyPod is essentially a tiny housing for an Apple watch. It's available in two options, one with a scroll wheel and one without. The company seems quite proud of their physical scroll wheel, which they claim uses mechanized components for direct rotation contact with the Apple Watch's crown. This results in a gadget that more or less resembles an iPod Nano. The crown-moving mechanism and general case enhancements to the Watch are reportedly patent-pending.
In the company's words, Apple Watches are very capable as mini-computers, but they are limited in the sense that users merely glance at them throughout the day, not really take advantage of watchOS. The tinyPod claims to make it easier for users to leave their phones behind if they're going out for chores, say. It aims to help users curb their social media habits without really missing out on all the essentials that they might need. Users can still take calls, send/receive messages, make payments and listen to music, provided they have the cellular version of the Watch. Plus with wrist detection turned off, the tinyPod will likely provide users with multi-day battery life. What's more, the company even made a tinier case without a scroll wheel, so it's a just a small iPod-shaped Apple Watch that users can carry around instead of wearing one.
