Those wanting to repair their gaming console or gaming handheld can now order repair kits from iFixit that have been specially put together for such devices. These kits are much cheaper than the Pro Tech Toolkit, which also contains tools that are not required for consoles.

The iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit has been a popular choice for years among hobbyists who prefer to repair smartphones, laptops or games consoles themselves. The kit contains numerous tools, but at a price of $74.95, it is not particularly cheap. The Essential Electronics Toolkit, on the other hand, lacks some tools that are required for certain devices.

For this reason, iFixit has now added a series of new, specialized tool sets to its range, which are now available on iFixit's US online store for $12.95. These have been specially put together to repair selected games consoles and gaming handhelds. Each package includes a screwdriver with the bits required for the respective device, small brushes for cleaning components, tweezers and a tool for opening the housing.

iFixit does not differentiate between console generations with these kits, so the PlayStation kit, for example, contains all the tools required to repair a PlayStation 3, PS4 or PS5 as well as the respective Pro and Slim models. For the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch, it should be noted that the iOpener, which simplifies display replacement, must be purchased separately for $19.99 if required.

As usual with iFixit, most components of the tool kits are also sold individually so that they can be replaced relatively cheaply in the event of a defect or loss. For example, a new spudger costs $3.99 or a TR8 Torx screwdriver $5.99. As an option, iFixit offers a cleaning kit for $23.99, which includes a small brush, a microfiber cloth, display cleaning fluid and a dust blower.
