Apple iPhone and iPad get free emulator for Windows, macOS and Linux
The Turing Software team has released a PC emulator for the Apple iPhone and iPad in the App Store, and the app will also be available in the Alt Store in the future. The 1.7 GB app is based on QEMU, which allows numerous PC operating systems to be run as a virtual machine.
The developer team's website offers several configuration files for virtual machines for free download, including Ubuntu 22.04, the ARM version of ArchLinux, Windows XP and even Windows 11. The systems can be downloaded and then opened directly via Apple's Files app in UTM. However, in many cases the ISO file of the operating system must be downloaded separately and selected in UTM. The emulation of older macOS versions is also supported.

Turing Software recommends not using more than 20% of the available RAM for the virtual machine, as iOS may otherwise terminate the emulator. Although this is problematic for modern operating systems, Windows XP only needs 20 GB flash memory and 512 MB RAM, so the system should run without issue on an Apple iPhone 15.
With the help of UTM and the tools provided on the developer website, it should be possible to run older PC software on an iPhone without issue, including classic games such as Doom and text-based games. Users can store multiple operating systems in UTM and switch seamlessly between them.
