At the time of launch, many assumed that the Galaxy Ring would only work with Samsung phones and tablets. As it turns out, any Android phone running Android 11 or above will do. Better yet, the wearable might get iOS support soon.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Ring on July 10 at the Galaxy Unpacked event alongside Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. It’s designed to be worn like a normal ring and offers various health and fitness-centered features, allowing users to keep track of their heart rate, sleep patterns and other health metrics as well as receive wellness tips. While initially intended for Samsung phone owners, recent discoveries suggest that the wearable also works with Android devices from other companies. Additionally, there are hints that iOS compatibility may be on the horizon.

At the time of launch, Samsung did not explicitly state if the Galaxy Ring would work with Android phones made by Oppo, Sony or any other company. However, the official product page states that it is compatible with devices running Android 11 or above. Moreover, YouTuber M. Brandon Lee has successfully tested it on their Nothing phone. To use the Ring with any compatible Android phone, all you have to do is install the Galaxy Wearable app, connect the device, and complete the set-up process. It’s important to note that certain AI features are exclusive to Galaxy devices.

So, while the Galaxy Ring works with any Android phone, some features might not be available for non-Galaxy users as they require Galaxy AI to function. Additionally, Samsung might eventually make the Galaxy Ring compatible with iPhones. According to Avi Greengart, an industry insider and the founder of Techsponential, iOS support is expected to come some time later. Avi claims in a tweet that "they were originally told that there would be iOS support, though not necessarily at launch."

Details about when the support will be available and which iOS versions will be compatible with the Galaxy Ring are still unknown. And since Samsung has not officially announced iOS support for the Galaxy Ring yet, we advise our readers to approach this piece of information with caution.
