The Xbox x Deadpool controller's backside is just a removable magnetic attachment

The limited-edition Xbox controller born out of the Microsoft and Deadpool and Wolverine collaboration has been trending on social media, and it's hard not to see why. It has a very prominent backside (among other elements), in classic Deadpool fashion. People were speculating whether the ergonomics of the controller will be suitable or not, given the sufficiently rounded design. Well, they'll be glad to know that it is just an attachment - the backside is magnetically detachable and can be taken off if needed. 

The video of the detachable attachment was posted on bilibili, and it indicates that there are 5 magnetic points on the back of the handle body to hold the backside in place. Once the attachment is removed, users can grip it like they would any other Xbox controller.

It would be pretty interesting to see if magnetic attachment becomes a standard for Xbox controllers in the near future. Doing so could kickstart a whole new era of magnetic Xbox controller attachments that can be swapped out on a whim. Microsoft could design different grips for players, and collaborations would become so much more convenient. The Deadpool x Wolverine collab controller will be difficult to get a hold of, though, since only 2 units are being given away to the sweepstakes' second place holder. The movie itself is just around the corner, coming out on July 26th.
