Oura appears to be working on a meal-tracking tool for its smart ring. The unreleased feature was spotted hidden in a recent app update from the company, with launch date unknown. Plus, the tool has an AI element to minimise the amount of data you need to input manually.

A meal-tracking feature could be on the way to Oura’s smart rings. The tool appears to allow you to log what you eat in the accompanying app, with details such as the time of the meal. Subsequently, the Oura app will be able to show how your meals affect your circadian rhythm.

The potential new tool was spotted in an APK teardown of the company’s Android app version 5.3.4 carried out by Android Authority. This also reveals an option to delete a meal, feedback notifications and AI photo analysis to detect food items intelligently. It seems that you will also be able to manually input details about the food should you wish.

Since that update, there has been a second release for Android, version 5.3.5. Plus, the iOS app is currently on version 5.3.7, with the update arriving at the same time as Android app version 5.3.5. However, neither release seems to have unlocked the meal tracking feature. While Android Authority speculates that the tool could arrive for the Oura Ring Gen 3 in the near future, Oura has yet to officially acknowledge the tool or confirm a timeline for the release. This news follows recently leaked images of the Oura Ring 4, or Oura Ring Gen 4, which could include contactless payments and a symptom radar feature.
