A new public beta update for users of two Garmin smartwatch models is available. The update focuses on improvements for one activity in particular. However, it does not appear to fix a battery drain problem flagged by some customers after the last stable update, version 10.20.

Garmin has made a new beta update, version 11.08, available for some Venu 3 and Venu 3s users. The changes made through the software are relatively minor, with one improvement for the pool swim activity. According to the changelog, Garmin has refreshed the rest screen and alert tones for this activity.

This is the first update in the 11.xx testing cycle and follows firmware version 10.20, launched a few months ago. This stable update brought various features, including support for the Garmin Messenger app, a GPS find my phone feature and dynamic heart rate source switching. However, several users of the smartwatch posted in the forum suggesting the wearable’s battery was draining faster than expected after installing software version 10.20. The Garmin team has not provided a solution yet, with other users suggesting restarting the device or looking at this troubleshooting guide. Unfortunately, beta version 11.08 does not appear to have a resolution for this issue.

You can download beta update 11.08 for Venu 3 and Venu 3s smartwatches by going to Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update. This update is only currently available to download for members of the Public Beta program; should you wish to join, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
