Garmin beta update with new Garmin Share feature for smartwatch rolling out
The Garmin Forerunner 255 will shortly receive a new beta update, version 20.15. The first in the 20.xx cycle, the release includes several new features, improvements and bug fixes. According to the changelog, Garmin Share has been added to the Forerunner 255. This tool lets you share information directly, such as workout data, courses, or waypoints, with other compatible Garmin devices, like an Edge cycling computer.
Another new feature to the Forerunner 255 is Device Settings Backup and Restore. Garmin says it has improved pool swim workouts with enhanced pace alerts, critical swim speed, the rest screen and alert tones. Race time predictions have also been optimized, and there is an integration for Garmin Run Coach in the Garmin Connect app. Beta Update version 20.15 also includes bug fixes, such as resolving an issue with Lock Screen vibrations when in sleep mode. Other problems tackled with the software include truncated data fields on the map, weather data display errors and bugs with the calendar. The complete change log can be found below.
A fresh bug has already been reported; a user has flagged that their ‘Ready for Morning Report’ notification did not display a check button, just the cross button. However, they noted that they could view their report as usual using the start button. A Garmin team member has responded to this forum post, though it remains unclear whether this issue affects many users. When the presumably phased rollout of beta version 20.15 for the Forerunner 255 will be complete remains to be seen. You can manually download the update using the Check for Updates feature in the watch’s settings.
