WatchinU has launched the Nickelodeon-branded NickWatch smartwatch for children as a Walmart exclusive. The watch includes games with Nickelodeon characters, musical instruments, and a voice changer for fun. Children are restricted to calling and texting only authorized adults, and geofencing alerts parents to kidnappings.

WatchinU has launched the Nickelodeon-branded NickWatch smartwatch for children as a Walmart exclusive. The watch allows parents to communicate and monitor their children, while games with Nickelodeon characters, musical instruments, and voice changers allow their children to play with it. The watch does not have access to the Internet, making it appropriate for use by children who are not yet old enough to go online unsupervised.

NickWatch has a built-in GPS for live location tracking. The GPS enables geofencing of children through the NickWatch App, alerting parents immediately when a child is outside their designated location. The app can manage and track an unlimited number of children wearing NickWatches and runs on Android and Apple smartphones. A built-in SOS feature can also trigger a NickWatch App alert at any time.

Children are restricted to calling and texting only authorized individuals so there’s no worries of nefarious strangers. Parents can send polls to their children as well as timers to remind them to complete tasks. The built-in 2 MP camera can take photos with various Nickelodeon-themed filters that can be monitored by parents, but the photos cannot be sent to strangers.

A variety of Android 8.1 apps are included, and the 2GB RAM and 16 GB storage let dozens of apps be installed. Creative apps allow NickWatch wearers to play virtual musical instruments by moving their arms as if they were playing actual instruments and to change their voices using the Voice modulators. A variety of multiplayer, Nickelodeon-themed games are included to encourage group play. A basic step tracker with goals and rewards is also included.

The smartwatch measures 0.54 x 1.60 inches (14 mm x 41 mm) and weighs 1.59 ounces (45 g). A high-quality 1.3 inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels controls the watch. A Unisoc SL8541E quad-core processor runs the operating system and provides GPS and Glonass location services. The IP68 waterproof-rated watch can run up to 30 hours before the 460 mAh battery requires recharging. The smartwatch comes with a USB charging cable and two Velcro watch bands – a gray strap and a strap with Nickelodeon characters.

The NickWatch is priced at $119.95, and the required data plan for communications is priced at $12.95 per month, which drops to as low as $7.95 per month with an upfront payment for 12 months. After gaining wide popularity across the UK last August and receiving the Red Dot Design Award for Product Design earlier this year, the device will be available nationally on Walmart.com beginning this Saturday, July 13 and in Walmart stores in October. From the team at Watchinu, the watch makes its official American debut in a 30-second ad slot that will air during the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards this Saturday.

Designed for kids ages 5-10 and retailing at $119 USD, the NickWatch offers an array of content and features inspired by Nickelodeon's iconic characters, including motion-based games, experiences and role-play activities. Users can run through the sewer tunnels with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, learn Morse code with Lincoln Loud and practice balance with SpongeBob SquarePants.

The NickWatch also empowers independence in children without compromising safety. The subscription-based companion NickWatch app for parents allows them to safeguard children's budding freedom with location tracking and communication tools. You can also create a geo-fence around frequented locations like school or a friend's house and receive a notification when the child has left the area. Caregivers can message and call the user account on the watch, mute the device during school hours and choose who communicates with their child.
