Garmin is now selling the Alpha LTE in North America, following a launch last year in some European countries like France, Italy, Spain and Germany. The cellular-based GPS device with multi-GNSS is designed to track dogs.
The Alpha LTE attaches to your dog’s collar, allowing you to track their movements in the Garmin Alpha app, available for smartphones running iOS 16.0 or higher, or Android 9.0 or higher. You can use LTE across the US and Canada and view VHF signals when paired with a compatible dog-tracking handheld device, with the product intelligently switching between the two technologies. However, to use the LTE connectivity feature, you must purchase the LTE Dog Tracking Subscription Plan, priced at $49.99/CA$69.99 per year, increasing the total cost of the accessory.
The collar is expected to last for 18 hours on average between charges or up to 75 hours in a low-power mode, recharging via USB-C. Plus, LED beacon lights can produce a range of colors, including yellow, magenta, white and blue, helping you to find your dog in the dark. The device weighs 50.8 g and has a rugged design suited to the outdoors. You can now buy the Garmin Alpha LTE GPS tracker in the US and Canada for $299.99 and CA$399.99, respectively. Canadian customers should note that the product will ship in 2-weeks; US customers can expect the device to ship in one to three days.
