Users of the Garmin Edge 540, Edge 840, and Edge 1040 bike computers signed up to the beta program will shortly receive new beta software: version 23.10. The release brings a bug fix for the new road hazard feature, which launched with the 1050 model and arrived for these older devices in beta update 23.09.

Garmin is rolling out new beta software for its Edge 540, Edge 840 and Edge 1040 cycling computers. Public Beta version 23.10 is a relatively minor update with one change, following the much larger beta update version 23.09.

According to the changelog for version 23.10, a bug for the new road hazards feature, which arrived with update 23.09, has been fixed. This affected users in China, with hazards “appearing offset” on the map. It does not look like this issue is causing problems for users in other countries. Update 23.09 arrived at the end of June, bringing several new features to the device, such as Garmin Share, GroupRide awards and an improved Power Guide.

When available, you can download Public Beta version 23.10 for the Edge 540, Edge 840 and Edge 1040 bike computers by connecting to Wi-Fi, then go to the Main Menu > select System > select About > and Check For Updates. You can join the beta program via Garmin Connect. In other news, Garmin recently launched the new Edge 1050, a premium cycling computer that provides various performance metrics, a coaching feature, and a digital bike bell.
