It seems that Garmin is preparing to release successors to its popular Fenix 7 smartwatch series. Not only have the names of these new smartwatches leaked, but so have their prospective launch prices and case sizes.

Garmin has only just released the Edge 1050, a successor to the two-year-old Edge 1040 (curr. $575 on Amazon). However, the likes of Fitness Tracker Test and Gadgets & Wearables have already turned their attention to the prospect of Garmin replacing the Fenix 7 series, which recently received a new stable software update to address an outstanding Daily Suggested Workouts-related issue.

As usual, Garmin has not yet revealed anything officially. Instead, various sources have spotted a few Garmin Fenix 8 models on Finnish retailer Multitronic. Please note that Finland levies a higher Value Added Tax (VAT) rate than many other Eurozone members. As such, Fenix 7 smartwatches retail for roughly €30 more in Finland than in other Eurozone member states with lower VAT rates like Germany.

Thus, the prices shown below may not be representative across the entire Eurozone. Nonetheless, standard all Fenix 8 smartwatches are significantly more expensive than their Fenix 7 counterparts. The same is true for the new Fenix E, an entirely new model that is still over €100 more expensive than the equivalent 47 mm Fenix 7. Based on the listings that Multitronic has activated so far, Garmin intends to start shipping Fenix E and Fenix 8 units in early September. Hence, we would not rule out a late August introduction at this stage. For reference, Multitronic has priced the five Fenix E and Fenix 8 SKUs shown so far as follows:

  • Fenix E - 47 mm, silver/black stainless steel: €797.90
  • Fenix 8 - 43 mm, whitestone white: €995.90
  • Fenix 8 - 47 mm, slate grey steel/black band: €995.90
  • Fenix 8 - 51 mm, slate grey steel/black band: €1,095.90
