Huawei Band 8 receives new features in HarmonyOS 4.2 update
The Huawei Band 8 is one of the latest wearables to receive HarmonyOS 4.2. It joins other models like the Watch Ultimate, the Watch Fit 3 and the Watch 4 Pro. Arriving as software version 4.2.0.108, several new features and optimizations are included in the release.
A report from Huawei Central indicates that version 4.2.0.108 supports connection to a compatible smart TV, allowing you to view metrics in the Huawei Health app on a larger screen. It appears that, while working out in front of the TV, you can view statistics such as heart rate and calorie burn in real time. The change log is also said to indicate that the addition of an NFC digital car key to unlock specific models (not listed). It is worth noting that this only works when the wearable is paired to a HarmonyOS or Android smartphone.
The final new feature is a reminder to exit Pairing Mode. The release notes also state that the heart rate measurement experience has been optimized, though details about the changes customers can expect are missing. This HarmonyOS 4.2 update for the Huawei Band 8 is rolling out in phases. Precisely when it will reach customers in countries across Europe is unclear.
