RingConn teases new Gen 2 smart ring with sleep apnea detection and 12-day battery life
A teaser page has appeared for the RingConn Gen 2. As its name suggests, the model is a successor to the original RingConn wearable, launched via an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in November 2022.
Compared to the original model, the RingConn Gen 2 is expected to be lighter at 2-3 g rather than 3-5g and thinner at 2 mm instead of 2.6 mm. RingConn also claims it has improved the accuracy of the data collected. Thanks to temperature and PPG optical sensors, you can use the ring to track metrics like heart health, stress level, sleep health, menstrual cycle, and exercise. Plus, RingConn claims that its second-generation device will be the first ultra-thin smart ring to offer sleep apnea monitoring. Insights are viewable in the RingConn app, available for iOS and Android, with integrations with Google Fit and Apple Health.
On top of this, the ring is said to run for up to 12 days on a single charge; by comparison, the original model has an expected runtime of 7 days. Whether the RingConn Gen 2 will crowdfund like the original model is unclear. It also remains to be seen when the wearable will be available and how much it will cost. For context, the original model is priced at around $279/£299.95.
