GPS trackers make it possible to locate stolen vehicles or objects precisely and over long periods of time. In contrast to a "Find My" tag, for example, a GPS tracker can be located independently of a smartphone and thus a relay station as long as an independent network connection is available. The GPS Tracker Pro from Invoxia is one such GPS tracker, which also has a mobile phone connection.
More specifically, a connection is established via LTE with coverage in more than 40 countries. This is particularly useful in the event of cross-border theft of a vehicle, for example. However, this connection is not free nor included in the price of the device. Instead, a subscription is required and the entry-level price for this is just under US$5 per month.
The battery life is estimated to be between one week and three months; as usual, the actual battery life depends on usage and, in particular, the update rate of position data. The battery can be charged via microUSB, but is not replaceable. The dimensions of just 105 x 27 x 9.5 millimeters and the weight of only around 30 grams allow for inconspicuous placement and, according to the manufacturer, it can be used in a temperature range of between 0 °C and 40 °C. Bluetooth 4.0 is available. Invoxia also advertises the IP67 protection of the GPS tracker when used with a corresponding protective cover or bag, providing a certain level of protection against dust and water.
The GPS Tracker Pro not only allows the GPS location to be read on demand, but virtual boundaries can also be drawn via geofencing. If desired, users can also be notified of every movement - a loudspeaker is said to provide accurate localization information down to the last meter. The tracker is available for US$129.99
