Weenect XS GPS tracker weighing only 27g was just unveiled
The Weenect XS has been revealed in the EU, with the company claiming it is the smallest and lightest GPS tracker on the market. The gadget measures 60 x 23 x 12 mm (~2.36 x 0.91 x 0.47-in) and weighs just 27 g (~0.95 oz), almost a third of the weight of the LandAirSea 54, a similar tracking device. Available in black and white, the XS has been designed primarily for tracking your pets, with collar accessories to suit cats and dogs. However, you could also use it to track other valuable items, such as a car.
The XS boasts 99.9% network coverage, compatible with 2G and 4G (NB-IoT and LTE-M) networks; Weenect stated that it would bring support for 5G in the future. A Thales GPS module using GPS, Galileo, Beidou and GLONASS systems allows you to track in real-time, refreshing the position every second. The tracker can light up, make sounds or vibrate to help you locate your missing pet.
The XS has a lifetime warranty covering manufacturing defects and natural wear and tear. The Weenect XS GPS tracker will go on sale in Germany in May for €49.99 (~US$55), with a broader rollout planned for June. It is worth noting that you must have a Weenect subscription to use the app, with a €9.99 (US$9.99) monthly payment or one-off €149.99 (US$169.99) cost for three years.
