Huawei Watch Fit 3: New update adds navigation and more
A new update is available for the Huawei Watch Fit 3. This updates the firmware of the smartwatch to version 4.2.0.169 and introduces several new functions. Users can now use a calculator directly on the watch, albeit a simpler type of calculator, as it only supports basic arithmetic operations and not, for example, complex calculations, but this is unlikely to be necessary in everyday life for most users.
A very useful addition is the integration of Petal Maps. This means that, in conjunction with a paired smartphone, navigation can be done from the wrist. In the best case scenario, the smartphone can remain in the pocket or backpack. However, there is one restriction: the use of Petal Maps is not possible if the watch is paired with a device with a third-party operating system.
Furthermore, software version 4.2.0.169 allows up to 40 alarms to be set. In future, a notification will indicate when a system update has been installed. As usual, Huawei promises various stability improvements, and the display of some UI elements is said to have been improved. During outdoor training sessions, for example, relevant data should be better displayed.
It is currently unclear to what extent the software update is available for all users worldwide. We have already reviewed the Huawei Watch Fit 3 here at Notebookcheck and were impressed by the accuracy of most sensors and the long battery life, although the voice assistant can only be used with Huawei smartphones.
