Huawei Watch GT 5 and GT 5 Pro: New smartwatches revealed in advance

Information about the Huawei Watch 5 series surfaced for the first time a few months ago. However, this is not the only smartwatch series from Huawei that will come in new generation in the foreseeable future, as the Huawei Watch GT 5 series has also just been revealed.

The successors to the Huawei Watch GT 4 were recently spotted at IMDA under the two model numbers VLI-B19 and VLI-B29, which, thanks to information from earlier leaks, correspond to the Huawei Watch GT 5 and the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro. This means that Huawei is once again launching a Pro model on the market, which was not available last year.

The two new smartwatches had previously already been spotted at various certification bodies in China and Indonesia, 3C and SDPPI to be precise. The latter had linked the model numbers to the names. TÜV certification is also on board.

Owing to these certifications, the first details about the expected features of the Huawei Watch GT 5 and Watch GT 5 Pro are now clear, but only at a superficial level. Unsurprisingly, the wearables will support Bluetooth and sensors for monitoring certain activities. They will also be protected against dust and water in accordance with IP68 and will charge quickly with up to 18 W.

It remains unclear what new features Huawei has in store for the Watch GT 5 series. There is currently no official information available, including a possible launch date. Since the launch of the current fourth generation was around a year ago and more and more leaks are surfacing, the Huawei Watch GT 5 and the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro are likely to be unveiled in the foreseeable future.
