Rumors suggest that Huawei will launch a new wearable, the Watch 5 Series smartwatch. The smartwatch would follow the Watch 4 Series, which includes the recently launched Watch 4 Pro Space Edition. These wearables offer features like a one-minute health analysis, support for eSIM and GPS navigation.
The latest round of rumors began when well-known Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital suggested in a recent post that the Watch 5 was on the way. However, few details on the smartwatches' appearance and features were shared. According to the leaker, the wearable will have a new look, though no further information on shape and size have been provided as of yet. It is anticipated that the Watch 5 will use the next generation HarmonyOS NEXT, which is said to be more efficient than its predecessor and not based on the Android Open Source Project.
Regarding a release timeline, the leaker indicated that the smartwatch would go on sale "soon", presumably launching in China. It may be that the wearable is unveiled around the same time as the Mate 70 series smartphone. It has also been suggested that the wearable could reach other markets like Europe at the end of the year. There are no tips on what the new watch might cost; for context, the Watch 4, the Watch 4 Pro and the Watch 4 Pro Space Edition currently cost around €349, €449 and €649, respectively.
